Welcome to Module 3: Urban Gardening – Set up!

In the previous modules you have learnt about the benefits of urban gardening and the positive impact it has on you, on your community, and also on the climate. You have been creative in thinking about your dream garden. In this module we will get into action and see what you actually need for setting up an urban garden – hopefully we can come close to what you defined as being your dream garden. Of course we need to consider, where your garden is located, what type of soil it has, how much sun the garden gets, how big it is, which type of garden you want to create … . In this module we will introduce to you the principles and the basics for setting up an urban garden. The module will focus on:

  • Things to consider when you start setting up your garden – Planning steps
  • Which type of garden fits to the location of the garden and the conditions you find there (in terms of soils, exposure to sun, size of the land etc.)
  • Tools and infrastructure you need to set up your garden
